What is Matcha?

Matcha is a Japanese tea powder made from stone-ground dried tea leaves from… you guessed it! The matcha plant. It has a vibrant green color that results from the leaves’ high chlorophyll levels and has been the cornerstone of traditional Japanese tea ceremonies for centuries.

Matcha is an antioxidant powerhouse - which may lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of heart disease, and even boost your metabolism. Matcha also contains caffeine, which is great to pep you up without giving you a buzzy rush like coffee. Leaving you feeling energized, focused, and calm.

The key ingredient in matcha is L-theanine - an amino acid that regulates anxiety without making you sleepy. L-Theanine allows our bodies to more slowly absorb the natural caffeine in Matcha, which results in a sustained 3 to 6 hour period of energy without the caffeine jitters.

Studies have shown that L-Theanine also triggers alpha wave brain activity (alertness) and stimulates dopamine (the brain’s naturally occurring “feel good” chemical) to simultaneously increase focus and mood, while also reducing stress.

So, not only does it taste incredible, but it’s doing wonders for those brainwaves - keeping you calm, alert and energised!
